Since its first edition in 2022, Pet Fair South East Asia has become a fixture in Interzoo's calendar. The trade fair, held at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), became one of the key B2B trade fairs for the pet industry in the region. The organiser VNU Asia Pacific and Globus Events expects around 500 international exhibitors and 13,000 trade visitors. A conference will take place alongside the fair, where Dr Rowena Arzt, Head of Exhibitions at Interzoo organiser WZF GmbH, will present the latest developments in the European pet market.
Steady growth in the Asia-Pacific region
The APAC region is one of the world’s most significant growth and revenue markets in the pet industry. The Country Session Asia at Interzoo 2026 provided an in-depth overview of this dynamic market, whose total volume this year is estimated by Euromonitor International at around USD 32 billion. By 2031, the market research firm predicts a growth rate of 4 per cent. Key factors influencing this market include premiumisation, the rising significance of local and regional brands, and a notable shift in pet owners' purchasing behaviour. As consumers turn to online shopping more frequently, this is fuelling the rapid growth of social commerce and quick commerce channels.
Thailand is the powerhouse of Southeast Asia
The Interzoo Country Session Asia also examined the market situation in Thailand, the key growth driver in Southeast Asia. In 2025, the country was home to 14.2 million pets, with numbers continuing to rise: the cat population alone has more than doubled over the past ten years.
According to the Thai Pet Industry Association (TPIA), Thailand's pet market has grown by an average of approximately 14 per cent per year since 2016. In 2025, the total value of the Thai pet market reached around USD 2.3 billion, whilst the total market volume, including exports, was USD 5.9 billion. Cat food is the top-selling segment, closely followed by dog food and pet healthcare products.
The most significant trends in the Thai market are the humanisation of pets, alongside health-boosting products designed to improve wellbeing and life expectancy, as well as growing efforts to increase sustainability.
At this year's Pet Fair South East Asia in Bangkok, from 28 to 30 October 2026, our Interzoo team will have its own booth (booth number E22). We look forward to exchanging ideas with you on-site. Do stop by and see us.
