Sustainability in the pet industry: Interzoo Sustainability Conference and Sustainability Award on May 11, 2026 in Nuremberg, Germany.
The first Interzoo Sustainability Conference will take place on May 11, 2026.

At a time when sustainability is no longer an option but a necessity, the Interzoo Sustainability Conference offers a unique opportunity for CSR and sustainability managers as well as industry experts to learn about and network on forward-looking sustainability trends and the associated transformative change in the international pet industry. The conference brings together leading experts, renowned researchers, industry pioneers, and representatives of the United Nations to provide a 360-degree perspective on the topic based on the latest studies and best practices – from environmental responsibility and ethical sourcing to production and distribution to social responsibility and circular economy models. Conference participants will gain practical insights and strategic perspectives that will enable them to embed sustainability even more firmly in their companies and develop new approaches for greater sustainability along the entire value chain.

“Sustainability is becoming a business case”

Whether participants want to stay one step ahead of legal developments or initiate new collaborations, the Interzoo Sustainability Conference is the ideal place to discover future-oriented market opportunities through sustainability and drive long-term business success in the pet industry. Prof. Dr. Jan Beyne, Professor of Sustainability Management at Antwerp Management School (AMS), explains: "The pet sector plays an important role in households, supply chains, and ecosystems worldwide. This also means that it has a responsibility to understand and reduce its environmental and social impact – from raw materials and production processes to packaging, logistics, and consumer behavior. Our research shows that companies that take a proactive approach to sustainability not only make a positive contribution to the planet and society, but also strengthen their competitive position. Sustainability promotes innovation, resilience, talent acquisition, and long-term value creation – in short, it becomes a clear business case."

New Interzoo Sustainability Study in 2026

In spring 2026, AMS will once again conduct the Interzoo Sustainability Study on behalf of Interzoo organizer Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe (WZF) and provide an overview of the status quo in the international pet industry. The study results, which are significant for all experts and market participants in the pet industry, will be presented by AMS in a workshop at the Interzoo Sustainability Conference and will provide participants with valuable and groundbreaking insights and findings on influencing factors, measures, and challenges in the field of sustainability management.

Conference tickets including Interzoo visit

Tickets for the full-day Interzoo Sustainability Conference at a price of EUR 495 including VAT can be booked via the Interzoo Ticket Shop from mid-December 2025. In addition to participation in the conference itself, tickets also include free admission to the subsequent Interzoo 2026 on all four days of the trade fair (May 12 to 15, 2026). This means that after the conference, participants can experience sustainable products and innovations from the international pet industry at the world's leading trade fair for pet supplies, network with decision-makers and innovators, and discover the latest industry trends.

First Interzoo Sustainability Award

Another highlight of the Interzoo Sustainability Conference will be the presentation of the finalists for the first Interzoo Sustainability Award. The companies selected from the applicants in advance will present their ideas in short pitches during the conference. The winner will then be chosen jointly by the audience and a jury of experts. The official announcement and conditions for participation in the award will be published online on the conference website in mid-December 2025.
