New Interzoo Academy webinar: Focus worldwide – what moves the pet industry?

wo and a half years of pandemics, increased logistics costs, higher raw material prices and inflation: another year of crisis has had an impact on the pet industry. In the new Interzoo Academy webinar, experts from the market research company Euromonitor International show what moves the pet industry worldwide – and how industry, consumers and retail are reacting to the global challenges.

The world is changing – and is also presenting the pet industry worldwide with new challenges. Inflation, the Ukraine war, the continuing effects of the pandemic and climate change are issues that also affect the pet industry. On the other hand, new opportunities are emerging that need to be seized: for example, the fact that more and more people see their pet as a real member of the family for whom they only want the best. They are open to innovations, pay attention to sustainability – and spend more money on their pet.

To what extent is the pet industry taking advantage of these opportunities, and how is it dealing with the challenges? These questions are answered by Euromonitor International analysts Tristan Hover and Javier Munoz in the new Interzoo Academy webinar, which you can now access free of charge. You will learn the most important insights and market figures from experts, see global developments and get insights into forecasts for the future.

More resilient to crises

The number of pets is continuously increasing worldwide. This is good news – because more pets also mean more growth. And this has been the case in recent years, especially in e-commerce: Euromonitor International's market analyses show that more dog food is now sold online than other pet supplies; two years ago it was the other way around.

Compared to others, the industry is more resilient to crises – but not entirely immune to global crises: inflation is changing customer behaviour, prices for raw materials such as wheat or corn, but also for packaging materials, are rising. Extreme weather phenomena cause crop failures, companies struggle with more difficult supply chains and high energy costs.

The new webinar answers how these developments affect demand and gives an insight into the long-term development of the market until 2027. This much can be revealed in advance: Despite global fluctuations and uncertainties, the market is expected to continue to grow – and to prove resilient in the face of crises.
