OUR STORY

Lily’s Kitchen was named after a very loved border terrier called—you guessed it—Lily. An icon in the making, this playful furry dog is how our journey towards making proper food for pets began. Over ten years ago, Henrietta, Lily’s owner, struggled to find a pet food made with natural ingredients. One day Lily fell ill, suffering with sore and itchy skin, so Henrietta started cooking her own pet food from scratch to help nurse her back to health. She wondered why all members of the family couldn’t get their paws on the same quality recipes us humans enjoy. Inspired, Henrietta sought the help of some expert vets and pet nutritionists and set out to create nutritious, proper food for all four-legged friends. When we say proper, we mean just that; food made using freshly prepared proper meat and offal (no meat meal) and naturally nutritious and delicious ingredients. One successful, seriously tasty recipe and satisfied pooches later, Lily’s Kitchen was born.

What do we mean when we say “proper”? Split into three core values, this stands for; Proper Food—food made using proper meat and offal, Proper Fun—food that helps enable pets to live their very best lives and Proper Goodness—food crafted with the world in mind.

Lily’s Kitchen creates naturally delicious, wholesome food for cats and dogs because we believe our pets deserve to eat proper food that’s full of nourishing ingredients. We all know a balanced, nutritious diet is key for staying in tip-top condition, inside and out.

We’re passionate about pets’ wellbeing and happiness. In fact, you could say we’re on a mission to change the way pets eat - away from unrecognisable ingredients, to a natural one full of goodness.

We try to tread lightly on THE PLANET. We have a responsibility to our planet and everything in it. So whatever we do – from packaging designed to be recyclable to sourcing of our ingredients - we try to tread carefully on the planet our pets love so much.

Because WE ARE FAMILY. Lily is the reason that Lily’s Kitchen is here today. Whilst she's no longer with us, the special relationship she had with Henrietta will always be at the heart of what we do. Pets are family and that means including them in all those special family mealtimes, serving up the food they deserve.
