/// Interzoo 2016: The biggest Interzoo of all time
Interzoo 2016 was the biggest so far in its history. 39,075 trade visitors (plus 5 percent) from 117 countries informed themselves about the latest pet foods and grooming aids, accessory articles and services for pets. The number of exhibitors has risen by seven percent: this year a total of 1,818 suppliers from 61 countries presented themselves. The gross exhibition space covered by the total of 13 occupied exhibition halls has risen to over 115,000 square metres.
Successful business relations
The outstanding foreign demand and good discussions on heavily-frequented exhibition stands ensured satisfied exhibitors and visitors . “As a result, Interzoo was once again this year an outstanding basis for new business contacts at home and abroad as well as the introduction of new products”, said Hans-Jochen Büngener, Chairman of the Interzoo Exhibition Committee, praising the event. Herbert Bollhöfer, Managing Director of Interzoo promoter Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe GmbH (WZF), also reported a positive feedback from exhibitors: “Companies were impressed by the quality of the trade visitors and the good export possibilities and are expecting good post-fair business.” The visitors also sensed the positive mood: “Many specialists were amazed at the diverse range of pet food and exciting innovations, for example in the aquatics sector”, explained Norbert Holthenrich, President, Zentralverband Zoologischer Fachbetriebe e.V. (ZZF, German Pet Trade & Industry Association).
The trade fair visitors and exhibitors also received inspiration at the half-day “Interzoo Summit” conference: under the motto “The Pet Market of Tomorrow”, top speakers delivered papers on the global mega trends, new developments in the pet industry and business areas of the future. In the “World Café” participants held discussions on possible solutions for the future of companies and the sector.
International media event
Interzoo was once again also an important event for the international media: 423 (2014: 403) journalists applied for accreditation to post their reports on the fair, new products and innovations and trends in the pet sector on radio, television, in newspapers and online media as well as trade journals. For both journalists as well as visitors, the fair for the global pet market has left the impression that “the market is flourishing”, says a convinced ZZF President Norbert Holthenrich. This impression is confirmed by the international economic data collected by the market research Institute Euromonitor: “The entire global market has grown to over 92 billion Euro. Of this, the European pet market accounted for turnover of 28.8 billion Euro”, reported Holthenrich at the Interzoo press conference.
