Repolar Pharmaceuticals researches, develops and markets treatment products for animals and humans based on the active ingredients of spruce resin. All products are based on comprehensive, scientific research. Repolar Pharmaceuticals was founded in 2006. In 2002 orthopaedic and trauma surgeon, Arno Sipponen, started his practice in Finnish Lapland. In his work he wondered how the locals were so successfully treating wounds with a homemade resin salve. It healed the wounds efficiently, but Arno didn’t know what it's efficacy was based on. To satisfy his medical curiosity Arno formed a cross-functional research team to study this remedy scientifically. The research concluded that resin salve protects the wound from infection and improves healing in infected wounds. Resin was proven to be antimicrobial and it improves re-repithelisation.

Repolar is constantly carrying out further research to promote the well-being of people and animals, and among the permanent staff of the company are, for example, people with educational backgrounds in medicine, chemistry and pharmaceuticals. Repolar also actively cooperates with different research organisations in order to increase objective knowledge about the properties of resin.
