At Dennerle Plants, designing living homes has been our passion for over 50 years. Since our founding in 1966 by Ludwig Dennerle, we are proud to have introduced more than 200 new species into the aquarium hobby.
Cultivated by our expert horticulturists at our greenhouses in Germany, our plants have found their way into homes in 26 different countries. Always on the hunt for new and rare species, our Plantahunter expeditions have taken the search all over the world to different countries, including Brazil, Florida, India, and all over southeast Asia.
While lush, healthy plant-growth is a top priority at Dennerle Plants, sustainability and environmental impact are equally vital to our mission.
For this reason, we are very proud of our greenhouses, home to magnificent quality potted plants, that are watered and fertilized with collected rain water that is recirculated in a closed system. These potted plants are grown from tissue culture plants that are cultivated to their full size and sold in pots of varying sizes. These sizes include regular, XL, and XXL. Our potted plants are particularly compact and bushy. A small portion of these potted plants are grown from seeds.
Our ‘mini greenhouses’, also known as ‘climate tents’, are home to the stunning Plant Decor. These are hand-assembled, decorative structures that have epiphytic plants, like Anubias and microsorum, attached to hardscape such as wood, stone, or coconut halves. These Plant Decor are especially appealing to the aquarist who wants instant-impact without all the labor. Our signature Plant Decor, the Mbuna trees, are a popular choice for the home aquarium due to their beautiful tree-like design.
Our PLANTIT! In-Vitro tissue culture cups, make up a significant portion of the 132 plant species that we currently produce. These plants are grown in sterile laboratory conditions from the cells of other plants. This results in algae-free, snail free, and pesticide-free aquatic plants. By implementing tissue culture production, we help reduce our environmental impact by avoiding the over-harvesting of plants from natural ecosystems. Further, our recycled cardboard packaging helps reduce plastic use and contributes to a lower carbon impact.
PLANTIT! Tissue culture cups are a simple and easy way, to get beautiful aquatic plants into your home. Simply open the cup, "Clean it! Cut it! and Plant-It!"
At Dennerle Plants, we believe that designing living homes by enhancing a living space with a planted aquarium, can provide a very special experience. That’s why we’re so passionate about bringing sustainable produced, healthy aquatic plants into your home. The home aquarium and its inhabitants, both livestock and plants, provide a beautiful, calming harmony to a living space that can be enjoyed for many years to come.
