Bio-Basisfuttermischung mit Vollkornreisflocken und getrocknetem Obst & Gemüse
The idea behind “naftie“ is an organic line of dog food developed from years of practical experience in our naturopathic clinic for animals. Among our team members we have a naturopath for animals, a veterinarian and a canine nutritionist. Our goal is to offer high-quality dog food that is nutritionally balanced, yet at the same time supports a broader perspective. Here at “naftie” we not only care about the health and well-being of the four-legged friends with whom we have the privilege to share our lives, but also the farm animals, the environment and the limited resources on earth.
For this reason the majority of our product line is organic, the ingredients are - to the extent possible - locally sourced and the canned food is produced in a facility that offsets CO2 emissions by recycling the water used during production, using the energy that is produced during the canning process to heat the office building, as well as reusing packaging material. We are also convinced that a reduction of the amount of animal protein in our dogs’ food is better for all animals, as well as the protection of the environment and the preservation of our natural resources. According to the professional literature the daily ration for an adult dog should contain approximately 35% protein-rich ingredients, which is the guideline we followed with our recipes and feeding recommendations. The years of experience in our naturopathic clinic for animals have shown us that we are on the right path with this strategy since too much protein in a dog’s diet can lead to chronic health issues.
In addition, the growing demand for animal protein has given rise to factory farming since it is not possible to produce the amount of meat consumed world-wide using sustainable methods. According to a study by “World Watch” livestock rearing and the resulting by-products are responsible for 51% of all greenhouse gases. It takes about 20,000 liters of water to produce 1kg of beef and worldwide more than 50% of grain produced is being fed to livestock, for example. Since the dwindling supply of fresh water and world hunger should concern all of us, the high consumption of animal products cannot be justified in the long run.
Hence, we decided to trade in part or all of the of meat that can usually be found in dog food for healthy, plant-based ingredients, which are a wholesome and easily digestible alternative since dogs have adjusted to the human diet over thousands of years. Our own dogs, as well as the dogs of our happy clients are living proof for that.
