Beaphar offers an extended range of anti-parasite product for cats and dogs to protect them against fleas, ticks and biting lice.
Beaphar FIPROtec® Spot-On is an effective and affordable veterinary strength medicine to control fleas and ticks on cats and dogs. Beaphar FIPROtec® contains fipronil; a safe and effective active ingredient against fleas and ticks in dogs and cats. Fipronil is spreading across the surface of the skin in about 24 hours and pulls then in the sebaceous glands which act as a kind storage space. The sebaceous gland gives daily sebum, so that the active ingredient reaches the skin. Beaphar FIPROtec® kills parasites through contact, (and not via the bloodstream), so it is not necessary for a flea to bite for it to become effective, thus reducing the spread of disease. Parasites that cover the skin walking come into contact with fipronil and become killed.
Beaphar FIPROtec® is also available as spray, especially made for the use on kittens and puppies from 2 days old, yet also suitable for cats and small dogs weighing no more than 10 kg. Beaphar FIPROtec® Spray kills ticks for up to one month on cats and dogs, and kills adult fleas for up to two months on cats and three months on dogs.
Beaphar COMBOtec® and Beaphar FIPROtec® Combo control fleas, ticks and biting lice on cats and dogs and protects the environment of the animal up to 8 weeks. They kill by the same ingredient as in Beaphar FIPROtec®, the Fipronil. The second active ingredient S-methoprene is a so called Insect Growth Regulator (IGR). It prevents normal molting and development from the immature phase to the adult phase. This prevents the insects from reproducing. S-methoprene mimics a parasite’s own growth hormones, tricking their body into thinking it can’t develop to the next stage of the life cycle anymore. As the parasite is unable to develop further, it ultimately dies and there is no possibility for a new infestation.
The S-methroprene works in two ways. It affects the females reproductive system, meaning any immature eggs she lays will be unable to develop. Secondly, already fully developed eggs that haven’t yet been affected by the S-methoprene become coated in it as they fall through the coat and will die soon after hatching. As your treated pet moves around your home, they shed hair and skin cells coated in S-methoprene. The flea larvae that hatch from untreated eggs feed on these S-methoprene coated skin cells. They will die soon after ingesting it or, once they’ve spun into their impenetrable pupal cocoon, will be unable to develop any further.
